An Inside Brussels guide updated on 10 October 2018 names the café among those in the centre of Brussels that chess players have flocked to, and gives its opening hours as every day from 10:00 to 01:00. No current source for chess there was found. A guide to chess in Brussels updated in March 2025 lists the Café des Halles in these halls: free play all day, with boards, pieces and clocks lent against an identity document. No later source was found.
